Sea Island Cotton is one of the highest quality cottons in the world today because of its rich cultivation under the tropical temperatures of the West Indies. The cotton is blessed with a superior growth cycle with plentiful rain as the cotton stems sprout followed by a dry air season that blooms the purest cotton. This land is Alkaline soil formed from the coral reefs of the West Indies that is excellent for drainage with little temperature differentiation between day and night creating an ideal area for high quality cotton growth. Only 500,000 pounds of Sea Island Cotton are produced every year which is under 10% of the world’s cotton and is a rarity value of high material.
Denim with Sea Island Cotton
In 2007, 8010GEKKO started to manufacture denim with high quality cotton. They were able to wove a 13.5 ounce cloth from unprecedented sewing methods that has the unique shine and silky feel of a fabric of a high quality suit. After a process of trial and error, 8010GEKKO chose a factory that only uses hand stitching and sewing machines to create its denim that should almost be called trousers because of the superior level of sewing skills. It is the highest quality of denim produced at the highest level of skill. It is called “Tailored Denim.” |
